This one's really simple (but if no-one's ever told you...)

With some students/classes, it's easy to get into 'Question Shooting Mode' (you ask a question, they give you an answer of 'Yes' or 'No' and an embarrassing pause occurs while everyone is waiting for something else to happen...)

You can help yourself by trying to avoid questions with 'Yes/No' answers (e.g.  Instead of asking, 'Do you like natto?', ask 'What do you think of natto?'
