City Map Time Challenge

Object:
Drill of the question/response structure, 'Is there a ... in this neighborhood?'  'Yes, it's across from the supermarket'

Materials:
One copy of '46B_build-a-townCheatSheet.jpg'
One copy of the blank map and Town Cards

a) Give the students the cheat sheet (with all the buildings in place) and give them a blank map and building cards as well.
b) Have the student(s) recreate the map on their own asking and answering the target questions and responses (you could also play against a timer to spice it up - 4 minutes would be about right for most classes at this level)

Keep in mind that these are very low level students, what we think would be boring is pretty challenging for them (I tend to lose sight of that sometimes, even after all these years...  )

Places Around Town board game

This really needs nothing from me...  All I've done is scanned and cleaned up the printouts and modified the die to make it easier to use (it was too small)

The readings in SBS1 are way beyond most of the students, but they are good with a bit of extra translation...

The 'cheat sheet' attached is intended to smooth the use of 'The New Shopping Mall' reading on page 63 for Japanese students.
